But what is a Fan Page and how do you create one. In this article i will show you what is it all about and how you can create your very own Fan Page.
Facebook has more than 300 mil active users. 300 million. To put things into perspective is about the size of the US’s population. Since it inception, Facebook has evolved in its purpose from a mere tool for communication and to stay in touch to becoming a tool used to sell, promote and market. Facebook has now become a media platform for companies and product owners to use to reach their targeted audience. If you own or even manage a brand no matter how small you should set up a facebook fan page or risk being left behind as more businesses shift to social networks like Facebook
What is Facebook Fan Page?
A Fan Page is different from regular profiles. Profiles are specific to people, Facebook doesn’t allow businesses or brands to have profiles which is why they created the Fan Page application. A Fan Page is similar to a profile which you design and create based on your brands’s characteristics. There are many tools and apps available to tweak your page to make it unique. Key information which you should include about your brand or company include:
- Overview of company
- Website and contact info
- Press releases
- Blog RSS
- Twitter updates
- Company news and status
- Customer interaction
One of the major benefits of a Page on Facebook over (or in addition to) a webpage is that it’s so simple to update. With a website, if you’re not technical, you have to contact your web developer, who will then charge you to make even a tiny change. With Facebook, updates are as easy as logging in and typing or uploading. The fresher your content, the more you will engage people.
Setting up your Fan Page
Once you’ve logged onto facebook using your profile, scroll to the bottom of the page and on the right hand footer you will see the Create a Page.
Pick a category
Click on the link and it will being you to the page on Fig 1 where you will see six boxes labeled Local Business or Place, Company or organisation, Brand or Product, Artist or Public Figure, Entertainment, Cause or Community. You will need to pick one of the 6 categories to proceed further.
Select a category and then type in the name of your Fan Page (Fig 2)
Next you will need to fill in details about your company such as its address, business hours, features, promotions and etc. You will also need to upload a picture onto your newly created Facebook Fan Page. Once that’s done, you are all set to start inviting friends and family to be a fan of you page!
